Your Humble Webmaster Wrote The Following And Received Some Interesting Responses From Several Retired Military / Government On The E-mail List:

There is something I want to share today that greatly disturbed me.

I recently watched a Navy recruitment ad on a cable channel last weekend. It had a phrase that caught my ear saying defending "the fair treatment of all" and "democracy around the world." It also promoted in this ad, "I will obey the orders of those appointed over me."

Where did all this come from?

Our soldiers have always understood they would be required to follow orders.  It was never a question in joining the military.  The message has always been about obeying orders in service to the country.  This specific politically correct sound bite seems to be a reaction to the group known as the Oath Keepers, members who agree not to obey the orders of those above them "if those orders contradict the Constitution of the United States."

This is also becoming an issue around the country with elected sheriffs who may be asked in the future to defend laws that are counter to the Constitution of the United States.

Also, the use of the word "fairness" in the ad might be coming from a new diversity in the military with service members allowed to marry on base outside of the traditional match of a man and a woman.  But our military is not there to protect fairness.  It is their to protect "Justice for All." If it was about fairness, all the far-left loons in Ivy League Universities that make fun of those who serve would also be called up for duty to their country.

The recruitment ad continued, saying join the Navy to defend democracy around the world.  But democracies can also elect and serve self-serving dictators. Our own country is not a democracy but a Republic.  America should not protect any democracy but only freedom in that democracy.  Rome was a Republic that became a corrupt democracy.  And we know what Chavez ran under a democracy, the dictator taking over the country's media and local corporations.

Watch and listen to the ad for yourself and let me know your comments.

Finally, Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, said on FOX News a few days ago that a leader's ideology has a huge effect on what trickles down into the ranks of government.  Giuliani should have added, "even if it's corrupt," and almost did.

He was referring to Obama not wanting to call Muslim terrorists, terrorists, while mentioning how fast the terrorist in Boston was Mirandized by a judge suddenly showing up in the hospital. On the outside it looked to many as if Obama's Justice Department didn't want the bomber to give out information without a lawyer present.

I called North Carolina's Senator Burr's office in Washington D.C., asking exactly what does it take for our Congress to find the courage to impeach a president today. I noted to his assistant 1.) the approval of "WorkPlace Violence," 2.) Obama promising to veto any bill giving a Purple Heart to those murdered at Fort Hood, and now 3.) the quick Mirandizing of a terrorist caught in Boston, just to mention only a few.

The attitude of today's national media, represented by ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN, is reminiscent of another media that helped to bring down a democracy in Germany, which also fawned over another charismatic leader of that time. It is this same worship of political correctness that allows these media outlets today to be labeled as enablers. Obama knew he could count on them to hide information on his background and his current administration.

These acts of intended lying to the American people used to be called treason.

Comments Returned About The U.S. Navy's Recruiting Ad:

One wrote the following:

Unfortunately, in this environment, the changes to our military will be permanent.

Another gave a list of eight reasons to justify what has happened to our military under a president who promised to fundamentally change America:

1. The military has always defended the fair treatment of all, meaning those that live within the law.  However Obama has treated incarcerated illegal alien criminals as if they are victims who have done nothing wrong and are instead being held in error. The president is even treating law enforcement personnel with termination if they try to apprehend illegal aliens who have committed crimes.

2. All who serve on active duty swear or affirm in the Oath of Enlistment that they will defend the Constitution and not the United States.  That is because the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution reside in the United States.

3. Those who serve also affirm that they will obey the orders of the officers appointed over them. There is a section that allows them to refuse to obey illegal orders of those appointed over them. However, this a real catch twenty-two, difficult to prove an order is illegal.

4.  Some law enforcement agencies are very closed-mouthed about what they will do or want to do regarding revised instructions from their executive branch of government. While many want to affirm to the local community the oath they took to protect and defend it, others may instead follow the executive branch’s direction if it even counters that oath.

5. There are no democracies in the world. The closet thing to one is our representative Republic form of government.

6.  The Mirandizing of the young Boston terrorist was not done solely by the federal magistrate judge.  There are reports that representatives of the Department Of Justice were there, too. The action stopped the young terrorist from being tried as a war criminal based on information that could be gained through the investigation, thereby saving him from the death sentence.  There is also intelligence that Russia offered regarding the bomber before the attack in Boston, which the Obama Administration chose to ignore.  This is important since as of this writing the FBI believes there may have been at least one other person involved in planning the attack. The question is now, Will the American people ever know?

7. Concerning The House of Representatives bringing a Bill of Impeachment investigating Obama’s continued lack of concern for the laws of the United States, the Democratic-lead Senate that exists today would never allow it to be acted upon.

A third did some interesting research over former oaths taken by Americans who were also asked to serve their country.

A retired government official came up with the following research from the Web on oaths accepted by the United States on intended service of the one taking it. He also agreed with the above comment that, “unfortunately, in this environment, the changes to our military will be permanent.”

"The wordings of the current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows:"

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.” (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962). (The key words here IMHO are the constitution, UCMJ.)"

“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.” (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)”

During the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress established different oaths for the enlisted men and officers of the Continental Army:

Enlisted: The first oath, voted on 14 June 1775 as part of the act creating the Continental Army, read:

“I _____ have, this day, voluntarily enlisted myself, as a soldier, in the American continental army, for one year, unless sooner discharged: And I do bind myself to conform, in all instances, to such rules and regulations, as are, or shall be, established for the government of the said Army.”

The original wording was effectively replaced by Section 3, Article 1, of the Articles of War approved by Congress on 20 September 1776, which specified that the oath of enlistment read:

“I _____ swear (or affirm as the case may be) to be trued to the United States of America, and to serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies opposers whatsoever; and to observe and obey the orders of the Continental Congress, and the orders of the Generals and officers set over me by them.”
Officers: Continental Congress passed two versions of this oath of office, applied to military and civilian national officers."

The first, on 21 October 1776, read:

“I _____, do acknowledge the Thirteen United States of America, namely, New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, to be free, independent, and sovereign states, and declare, that the people thereof owe no allegiance or obedience to George the third, king of Great Britain; and I renounce, refuse and abjure any allegiance or obedience to him; and I do swear that I will, to the utmost of my power, support, maintain, and defend the said United States against the said king, George the third, and his heirs and successors, and his and their abettors, assistants and adherents; and will serve the said United States in the office of _____, which I now hold, and in any other office which I may hereafter hold by their appointment, or under their authority, with fidelity and honour, and according to the best of my skill and understanding. So help me God.”

The revised version, voted 3 February 1778, read:

“I, _____ do acknowledge the United States of America to be free, independent and sovereign states, and declare that the people thereof owe no allegiance or obedience, to George the third, king of Great Britain; and I renounce, refuse and abjure any allegiance or obedience to him: and I do swear (or affirm) that I will, to the utmost of my power, support, maintain and defend the said United States, against the said king George the third and his heirs and successors, and his and their abettors, assistants and adherents, and will serve the said United States in the office of _____ which I now hold, with fidelity, according to the best of my skill and understanding. So help me God.”

The first oath under the Constitution was approved by Act of Congress 29 September 1789 (Sec. 3, Ch. 25, 1st Congress). It applied to all commissioned officers, noncommissioned officers and privates in the service of the United States. It came in two parts, the first of which read:

“I, A.B., do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I will support the constitution of the United States.”

The second part read:

“I, A.B., do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) to bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and to serve them honestly and faithfully, against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and to observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States of America, and the orders of the officers appointed over me.”

The next section of that chapter specified that . . .

“ . . . the said troops shall be governed by the rules and articles of war, which have been established by the United States in Congress assembled, or by such rules and articles of war as may hereafter by law be established.”

Although the enlisted oath remained unchanged until 1950, the officer oath has undergone substantial minor modification since 1789. A change in about 1830 read:

“I, _____, appointed a _____ in the Army of the United States, do solemnly swear, or affirm, that I will bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States, and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to the rules and articles for the government of the Armies of the United States.”

Under an act of 2 July 1862 the oath became:

“I, A.B., do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I have never borne arms against the United States since I have been a citizen thereof; that I have voluntarily given no aid, countenance, counsel, or encouragement to persons engaged in armed hostility thereto; that I have neither sought nor accepted nor attempted to exercise the functions of any office whatsoever under any authority or pretended authority in hostility to the United States; that I have not yielded voluntary support to any pretended government, authority, power, or constitution within the United States, hostile or inimical thereto. And I do further swear (or affirm) that, to the best of my knowledge and ability, I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.”

An act of 13 May 1884 reverted to a simpler formulation:

“I, A.B., do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

This version remained in effect until the 1959 adoption of the present wording.

Summary

Notice in all the above research of America's oaths for those who have served this country, there was no mention of "fairness" or "protecting democracies." It is instead new watered down language from the socialists who rule America today, passing out dollars in her treasury for votes so they can continue to make changes to the country's fabric.

But why? I have some answers I believe make sense in the Obama world we live in caused by those who voted for his policies.

First, let's look at the local news for a second, and then I will explain what I believe.

A Planned Parenthood representative, so well indoctrinated by the politics of the organization, admitted without blinking an eye that Planned Parenthood supported infanticide. The conservative media was stunned at the revelation.

So who came to the immediate rescue of Planned Parenthood? Barack Obama, of course, the first sitting president to not only speak at the organization's convention but to ask God to bless its work.

Obama said at the convention, So when politicians try to turn Planned Parenthood into a punching bag, they're not just talking about you; they're talking about the millions of women who you serve. And when they talk about cutting off your funding, let's be clear: They're talking about telling many of those women, you're on your own. He ended his comments with, Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you. God bless America. Thank you.

Obama said this as Ivy League universities were holding Sex Weeks, where S&M demonstrations were reported to have been conducted live in front of students. This should be no surprise, as Planned Parenthood has been able to destroy the morals of these young adults since they were in their early years in America's state schools.

In these state schools children are being expelled for having what the school thought was a symbol of a weapon, such as a piece of paper that looked like a hand gun to students wearing tee shirts with images of U.S. Marine weapons. My wife remembered in the 1950's when there were girls' and boys' rifle teams sponsored by the school. So it is America that has changed, not the guns.

It is also an America gone nuts with Obama as the flash point since 2008, given permission to finish the job of radically changing the country. While the Boston bombers were allowed into this country from Russia, their parents piled up $100,000 in government benefits as they went back to Russia on vacations. In the meantime Obama's Eric Holder fired a shot across the bow of German home schoolers - who left their country to avoid being jailed for homeschooling their children - advised the family they may not be welcome to stay in the United States.

Looking at all the above and then remembering the Navy recruitment ad talking about serving to protect "fairness" and "democracies," these terms are no accident but code words in an Obama world.

Democracies are known for their secular societies, an antithesis to a Republic where the individual gets his or her rights from God and not from man. And fairness relates to diversity, specifically sexual orientation introduced into the military community. Ironically, as sexual orientation enters all aspects of life in America, including national sports, there then becomes no further need for diversity, society archiving the word. But looking back over the decades, wasn't that the goal of GLAAD and others once in control, no different than those they were complaining about?

If you consider all these factors, including masculine sporting organizations adopting effeminate policies, it is clear that Obama's promise in 2008 to fundamentally change America has been completed. The war is over. So what about his second term?

When a military wins a war, they begin mopping up operations. And that is what Obama will be doing in his last four years in office, obviously going after Constitutional gun rights. With so many young adults in America's grass roots having bought into Obama's progressive movement, the 2014 election could have little effect no matter what party wins. It is 2016 that will be the big election, where progressive liberals of the new far-left Democrat Party will launch a new America. It is then we might see "In God We Trust" come off the money with God removed from national songs as offensive to other non-believing Americans, as they tried to remove God from their own convention in August of 2012. Watch.

Still don't believe me? Did you forget our U.S. Supreme Court ruled against a high school graduate that mentioned God as her motivator for success, the school pulling her microphone cable out of the auditorium's amplifier to shut her up? Or the student who wanted to play, not sing, the classic instrumental, Ave Maria, at a school concert and was denied, the court backing up that school's decision, too.

Remembering the writer who responded to my e-mail about the change in the Navy's direction, a high-ranking retired officer reporting, "Unfortunately in this environment the changes to our military will be permanent."

I couldn't agree more.

One More Question:

First there were questions of the Navy recruitment ad. Now the Boston police are turning into a military-like presence?

What happened to the National Guard that state governors are to call upon on behalf of city mayors during problems with weather, terrorists, or insurrections?  The National Guard is well trained as “real” soldiers, taking an oath of office to the United States and not to any one city.

But that is not what happened in the city of Boston after the bombing with its police looking more like intimidating SS Troops ready to serve a mayor with high political interests rather than a National Guard trained to only serve the nation and American lives.

To that end the video below seems to ask the same question. Note that the host is disturbed as to how these cops could one day be under control of a radical political regime. Do I need to remind you it was a Boston mayor that wanted to shut down a national food chain because its owner simply wanted . . . wait for it . . . marriage to stay between a man and a woman? The corporation's PR manager died of a heart failure over the personal attacks of the Boston mayor against his company, Chick-Fil-A, and its Christian owner.

Then a few days after the Boston bombing, the police verified the person of interest was hiding in a winterized boat located in a citizen's backyard. The police then opened up with such fire power that it was as if they were given orders from the Obama Justice Department to be sure the young terrorist was found dead, not alive . . . not able to give details about other Muslims.

However, once the fire power was over, (a type of sound you will only hear in old films or movies of German officers firing into hundreds of Jews as they stood over their graves), the terrorist was found alive while the boat had been turned into swiss cheese.

With the terrorist found alive, the Obama administration was then by his side in a flash, shutting down the FBI’s interrogation of a young man that had killed three Americans and wounded over 150. It was reported on FOX News that using the law as written, the government could have given the FBI four more months to discover details of other terrorists in America. But under a "Workplace Violence" president, it was not to be.

To me, this is all shades of the new policies that created protection for the Fort Hood Jihadist, who has YET to be tried and the "I'm going to bed now" president during the active killing fields at Benghazi, an investigation that is still going on over four dead American soldiers. It is a story the New York City mainstream media has gladly avoided reporting on while burying those four brave Americans a second time.

Congratulations must go out to the ASNE in running the show since 2008 to protect a president it wanted to stay in power.
