Testimony on the Character of John McCain

by Jack McEncroe, Former Marine Corps Fighter Pilot

Note: According to a retired brigadier general, the testimony below is from a former Vietnam pilot who had served with and had been mentored by John McCain.

This is very important testimony from a decorated Marine Corps pilot, as we watch NBC allowing a recent story to be played on its national evening news where the former prison director says McCain had lied about his time as a POW.

The "news" story shows McCain's former Vietnamese interrogator reporting McCain had been treated fine while in the Hanoi Hilton, and that the former pilot was not tortured but instead had many friendly meetings with his captors, teaching them English.

Americans only need to listen and read the interviews of those who had survived with McCain at the Hanoi Hilton to see the evil in today's far-left media culture and a major political party. It is stunning to watch the party of JFK allow itself to be represented by a candidate with such minimal experience while having associated with radicals who hate the United States of America during such a short political career.

This is simply an amazing observation on the dangerous times we live in today, as if in Germany in the late 1920s or walking through a portal warned about in the writings of Revelations.

To those voters who gush at voting for Obama, "Be careful what you wish for."

This past September marked 40 years since I came home from Vietnam.

Vietnam was a war in which the American Military was castigated by gutless politicians, the media, and the Hollywood left. Sound familiar?  We came home to a hostile environment in which we were called "baby killers" and many other things I cannot quote here.  Why?  Well, I’ll tell you why.  The politicians were not committed to winning the war. Sound familiar?

Seemingly, they were only interested in getting reelected and they demanded that we should, and promised that we would, pull out.  They would end the war. Sound familiar?  The media was only too happy to repeat the politicians’ demands and promises.  The Hollywood left led the choir and our country was in turmoil.

Those of us who were fighting the war were just a political football.  During TET 1968, our country was informed that we were bogged down when we were really destroying the enemy.  We were winning on all fronts. But it was an election year and the politicians were screaming for a timeline for withdrawal.  A date specific to cut and run. Sound familiar?

Yes, it has been 40 years since I came home to find my country was being sold out for political ambition.  The Vietnam Veterans became the target of a disgruntled population that had been mislead for political gain.  America had been lied to by the media.  The politicians, many of whom had never been in the military let alone combat, were telling the American people that we were killing innocent civilians.  I cannot adequately explain my emotions upon hearing this garbage.

In the past few months, I have heard it all again.

I have heard demands for timelines for withdrawal, for specific dates for pulling our troops out and, on the night of October 2nd. I heard Joe Biden state “We will end the war.”  He did not say we will win the war.

Prior to that, Senator Obama said: “We’ve got to get the job done there (in Afghanistan). And that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there.”

These statements undermine the efforts of those fighting for our freedom.   I agree with Governor Palin.  Senator Obama is not qualified to be commander-in-chief.

Whether you are in favor of the war or not, America is in one and we better win it.  We have an enemy who wants to kill us . . . all of us.  Think back to how you felt on 9 / 11 when those twin towers of democracy came tumbling down.  Those towers were full of Americans; our fathers, mothers, grandparents, husbands, wives, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.

Never forget those feelings.

In a few short weeks we will be electing our new Commander-in-Chief.  In these tumultuous times we had better get it right.  We had better elect a man who commands the respect of his troops, puts fear in the hearts of our enemies, is experienced enough to demand pre-conditions, and who will never blink first.  You might ask where we are going to find such a leader.  It will probably come as no surprise that I have a suggestion.

Many subscribe to the theory that the best way to really find out about a person is to play golf or go on a camping trip with them.  Do they have integrity? Do they pull their weight?  How do they handle adversity and what do they really stand for?  Do they lead, follow, or simply get out of the way?

I have a better litmus test. COMBAT!  Those of us who have had the privilege of fighting for the greatest country on earth know all about one another.  There are no do-over's, votes of present, or decision avoidance.  It is do or die right now, and if one makes the wrong decision someone dies.

I am sure that the most often heard prayer from those going into combat for the first time is: “Please God, do not let me let my buddies down.”  The concern is for one another, not one’s self. Country first!

The mission is paramount, followed closely by the well being of the men and women entrusted to you.  This is executive experience earned in dire circumstances.  Country first!

I asked earlier, “Where are we going to find such a leader?”

Well, I have known such a man  for almost 43 years.  He was one of my flight instructors. He was my boss in scheduling. He was a man who already was where I wanted to go.  He was the "Energizer Bunny" on steroids, and he still is. Ask his security detail.  "Mission Accomplishment" was his driving force . . . his fun loving spirit was contagious.  We were kids of 22-years old and he was the old man at 29.

When the news of the Forestall Carrier fire had reached us, I knew McCain would come through. I had no doubts.

Then in October 1967 I saw the “shoot down list” and there it was, 27 October 1967.  Ultimately,  we heard that McCain had been captured with the very first thought coming to me, “Now what? They may long for a catch and release program before this is over.”  McCain was high energy, high speed, with his hair on fire at all times and they would have a tiger by the tale.

Later, we would learn of McCain's injuries, and we would come to know about the most incredible bunch of Americans it has been my honor to know and serve with, our "Prisoners of War."  Being a POW and serving honorably deserves our total admiration and appreciation.  Superb performance under extreme duress is the quality to recognize from Senator John McCain’s five and half years of captivity and torture.

John McCain laps the field when compared to most in Washington.  John spent 22 years honing the skills he brought to Congress.  He was an officer in the United States Navy, and the personnel and equipment entrusted to his care would rival the work force and budget of a medium size corporation.  It was executive experience of the highest order.  Mistakes did not hurt stock holders, but rather cost lives.

In a political arena where one presidential candidate falsely claimed she landed under sniper fire in Bosnia, Joe Biden claimed falsely that he was shot at in Iraq, and Barrack Obama claims he almost joined the military. It therefore appears military experience on one’s resume is coveted.  But the required sacrifice to earn it is another story.

In a world where the mantra is lead, follow, or get out of the way, Senators Obama and Biden got out of the way.

John McCain is the genuine article.  He led then and he continues to lead now.  His military career is legendary. His stances on spending, taxes, energy, Supreme Court appointments, Homeland Security, and "The Surge" all put country first.

A good leader makes good choices. That' why John’s choice for a running mate in Governor Palin was pure genius.

John believes we must cut spending and forever eliminate earmarks.  Unless you believe that the government will do a better job of spending your money than you will,  you will agree with John.  Earmarks are the uncontrolled spending on a politician’s pet project, which helps the politician get reelected again and again.  He is spending your hard earned money to get himself back in office.

Get it?

Unless you believe that the government will do a better job of spending your money than you will, you want lower taxes for everybody.  John understands that if we tax the rich, we will lose jobs and ultimately only hurt the poor and middle class.  When you tax the rich, they take their money and go home.   They quit investing in the expansion of America and you and I lose our jobs.  Left wing politicians have been touting this plan for years.  The real crime here is they know it does not work, but it does sounds good.

That is not putting our country or our fellow Americans first.  It is putting the ambitions of those spewing this nonsense first.  John McCain will always put the country and our fellow Americans first. Lower taxes mean that you get to spend your own hard earned money in the manner that you choose.

Get it?

John supports tapping our own energy resources while we develop alternative fuels, thereby reducing our dependency on foreign oil.  We are sitting on bags and bags of gold and going broke paying someone else for their gold.

Get it?

Unless you believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters, you will agree with John’s stance on Supreme Court appointments.  We need Judges who will uphold our Constitution, not rewrite it.

Unless you believe that when we pull out of Iraq the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people, you realize "The Surge" was the only choice.  You understand that victory is the only option.  John firmly believes that if our homeland is not safe, nothing else matters.  Never forget your feelings on 9 / 11. NEVER.

John will always lead our fighting men and women and put them in a position to succeed.  That is why he risked his political career on backing "The Surge" when Senators Obama and Biden claimed it would not work.  John has been there. He has walked in our troops’ boots. He knows what makes them tick.  Senators Obama and Biden did not lead and they did not follow. Instead they attempted to block the way.

John McCain will win the war, and I will repeat that for Senator Biden’s benefit.  John McCain will win the war and bring our troops home victoriously.

Senator John McCain will always put our country first.

He always has.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! The next President of the United States and his Director of Education for America's youth."

"Ayers, now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, claims to abhor nostalgia ("Nothing is more boring than some old person going on and on about the way things used to be"). But he has been thinking lately about the past—both his and the country's—and soon he will likely be engaged in what he calls "a dialogue" about the sixties, the antiwar movement, and the radical life he led. The spur for this dialogue will be the publication of Fugitive Days (Beacon Press, $24), a memoir Ayers has written about the trajectory of his life, from a pampered son of the Chicago suburbs to a young pacifist to a founder of one of the most radical political organizations in U.S. history." Obama, when asked about this picture said that flag pins and putting your hand over your heart had no meaning for love of country. Really? Then why during his campaign for president suddenly he had flags surround him on the stage, in his logo, and on his coat at every debate? Liar, liar, pants on fire!

William Ayers, Weatherman Radical bomber now of course a professor at the University of Illinois, used his home to help Obama start his campaign as an Illinois senator, leading to his running for president.

What do you think the two men discussed in those days, Obama distancing himself from Ayers while a candidate for president when asked about the relationship, saying "I was a little boy when he was trying to kill Americans." Really, Barack?

Photo from the October 1, 2007 edition of 'Time,' shows Obama, Hillary and Bill Richardson at the Steak Fry of Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on September 17 in Indianola, Iowa, during the National Anthem. Richardson and Clinton have their hands over their heart. But not Obama! Does he perhaps believe that, like not wearing the flag pin, the hand on the heart isn't 'true patriotism'?" . . . read source

McCain finally documents Obama's ties to Ayers!

Obama said Ayers simply lived in the neighborhood! Wow, he distributes millions of dollars for Ayer's organization and he only lived in the neighborhoo? Think what he would do as president along with the good old boys that blindly follow him.
