Last Sunday night my wife and I were sitting in the living room, watching the CBS 60 Minutes. She had come into the room after cleaning up the dinner dishes, my having watch two football games and ready to watch a third.
After watching an emotional segment concerning the need for a living will, I said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine, and fluids from a bottle."
As we continued to watch the television, I took sipped another drink and continued on, hoping she was listening.
"And If that ever happens, just pull the plug."
She then got up, unplugged the television, threw out my bottle of beer, and walked out of the room.
